Competitors and the gap
Track competitors and their footprint is captured on the same schedule as yours, drawn on the same charts with the same rules. Your plan sets how many you can track.
The keyword gap lists phrases a competitor ranks for in the stored sample where you do not, or where you trail by twenty places or more, ordered by their strength. The citation gap lists tracked questions where an engine cited a competitor and not you, with exactly who it named.
Both gaps say they come from the stored sample, because they do. A gap tool that implies it saw everything is guessing; this one names its coverage.
